Former Federal Prosecutors and Big Law Partners Launch Trial and Litigation Boutique Focused On Fintech Fraud

NEW YORK, NY – June 16, 2024 – Former federal prosecutors and AmLaw 100 firm partners Timothy J. Treanor and Arlo Devlin-Brown today announced the launch of their new boutique litigation firm, Treanor Devlin Brown. The firm will cover high stakes criminal and civil litigation of all types, with a focus on fraud in the cryptocurrency sector.

Treanor and Devlin-Brown previously served as prosecutors and supervisors in the renowned U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where they collectively oversaw cases resulting in the seizure and forfeiture of over $5 billion in criminal proceeds and facilitated restitution to countless victims. They each stepped down as partners from two of the country’s largest law firms to open the new practice.

“We founded Treanor Devlin Brown because we saw a clear need,” said Treanor. “The fintech and cryptocurrency spaces offer enormous potential, yet they continue to be plagued by fraud. Our firm is dedicated to aggressively representing victims—individuals and companies alike—targeted by bad actors.”

Devlin-Brown added, “As former federal prosecutors, we saw an opportunity to use our skills to ferret out fraud in the crypto sector, helping victims recover their losses while making the blockchain safer for broader adoption.”

The firm is representing plaintiffs in a class action on behalf of victims of the $LIBRA cryptocurrency scam pending in (Hurlock v. Kelsier Ventures et. al, 25 Cv. 03891) and has open investigations into other cryptocurrency fraud matters, including potential market manipulation in the trading of $MOVE and $OM tokens.

In addition to fintech fraud, Treanor Devlin Brown will handle civil and criminal litigation of all types, drawing on the breadth and depth of experience of its founders. Treanor and Devlin-Brown have represented corporate and individual clients in white collar investigations of all types and have tried more than 25 federal cases to verdict between them.

“Tim and Arlo are precisely the kind of aggressive, experienced litigators that clients need to tackle today’s most pressing legal challenges,” said [someone who knows us both]. “They are people you want to call whether you are confronting a government investigation or looking to bring litigation against bad actors.”

The launch of Treanor Devlin Brown follows a growing trend of litigation partners leaving some of the country’s largest and most prestigious law firms to start more focused practices. The new firm aims to leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver top-notch litigation skills in a nimble, efficient manner.
